NEW DELHI, MAY 13. The Union Cabinet today recorded its appreciation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's performance as Prime Minister in the National Democratic Alliance Government during the last six years. The Cabinet meeting was held in two sessions. The first session, presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, passed a resolution lauding Mr. Vajpayee's performance as Prime Minister. The resolution placed on record the out-going Council of Ministers' "deep gratitude and sincere appreciation for the visionary leadership that the Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, consistently provided to the Government and the nation for the past six months." Noting that with Mr. Vajpayee at the helm, the country had made great progress in all spheres of national endeavour, the resolution recalled that historic and lasting steps were taken to strengthen national security, both external and internal, and that simultaneously path-breaking initiatives were taken for promoting peace and cooperation in South Asia, with China and with other neighbours, thus paving the way for amity in the region.
