Janata Party plans agitation

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JUNE 8. The Telangana unit of the Janata Party will meet on June 14 in Hyderabad to chalk out an agitation plan for the creation of a separate Telangana state.

In a press release issued here, the party president, Subramanian Swamy, said the Congress-led Union Government "has betrayed the Telangana people by going back on its election promise to create a separate State."

Referring to the reference to Telangana in the President's address to Parliament, he said "What the President should have stated is that a "Bill to create a separate Telangana state will be introduced at the next session of Parliament." Dr. Swamy called for the resignation of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader, Chandrasekhar Rao from the Union Cabinet to protest against "this betrayal".
