Sopore MLA's brother gunned down

SRINAGAR,
JUNE 15.
Militants today gunned down Mohammad Rajab Dar, brother of the Congress MLA from Sopore, Abdur Rashid Dar, while another MLA, Girdari Lal, escaped a grenade attack. Police sources said unidentified militants fired at Rajab Dar in Dangerpora area of Sopore early this morning while he was returning home after visiting his paddy field, killing him on the spot. Rashid Dar, who is also Chairman, Handicrafts Corporation, is among the four MLAs the Congress has in the Kashmir Valley.Congress leaders offered condolences to the family.
In Srinagar, militants hurled a grenade at the vehicle of Girdhari Lal when he was returning from the Secretariat to the MLAs' Hostel. It landed in front of Mr. Lal but did not explode, witnesses said.
