Telgi issue: RJD creates a flutter in Lok Sabha
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
JULY 6.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal today demanded a probe into the former Defence Minister, George Fernandes's alleged links with the prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi. The demand was made on the floor of the Lok Sabha by RJD MPs, Raghunath Jha, Devendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Krishna.
Waving copies of a national daily which had published a news report and a photograph of Mr. Fernandes and Mr. Telgi, they were on their feet as soon as the House met this morning. They urged the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, who was present in the House, to order a probe. The Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, however, asked them to raise the issue after question hour.
Mr. Jha and Mr. Prasad Yadav again raised the issue after the question hour.
