BJP distributes relief for Kumbakonam fire victims

KUMBAKONAM,
AUG.14.
The Bharathiya Janata Party president, Venkaiah Naidu, today distributed Rs. 25,000 each to the parents of the 94 deceased children and 18 injured children in the July 16 school fire accident at Kumbakonam.
The amount was given on behalf of the party. S. Thirunavukarasar, MP, Pon. Radhakrishnan, former Union Minister, C.P. Radhakrishnan, State president of the BJP and L. Ganesan, all-India secretary of the BJP accompanied Mr. Naidu.
Later, Mr. Naidu told presspersons that Kumbakonam was an eye-opener for the country. Both the State and Central Governments should monitor the situation in schools and improve the environment.
Two cars in the convoy of Mr. Naidu bumped into each other when the brakes were applied suddenly at Rajagiri, 15 km from here, this evening. Police said that two BJP workers in the cars received minor injuries.
