Niyaz cruises past Javed

CHENNAI, AUG. 17. Md. Niyaz (Muslim) defeated Javed (Md. Sathak) 6-0, 6-1 in a tennis singles second round contest of the Bertram memorial tournaments at the Loyola courts on Monday.

In chess, Ram S. Krishnan (Guru Nanak), Venkat Sundaram (Loyola), Utham Sharma (Guru Nanak) and Ganapathy Krishnan (Loyola) shared the lead with one point after the opening round.
