Letters to the Editor
Sir, The issue of a non-bailable arrest warrant against the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, in cases relating to instigating riots and attempt to murder, and the subsequent decision to withdraw the cases against her only prove that not all are equal before the law.
M. Abdaal Akhtar,
Sir, Using the judicial system to settle political scores has become common. At this rate, all Chief Ministers and ruling party bigwigs at the Centre can expect cases against them with a change of guard.
Amitabh Saxena,
Sir, That the Congress had to justify its action through a half-page advertisement (Sept. 2) was amusing. So was the use of the prefix, `honourable' and the suffix, `ji', in references to Sonia Gandhi. Of course, no such honour was bestowed on Ms. Bharti.
V.E. Venkataramani,
Sir, If the offences committed by Ms. Bharti were indeed as serious as the advertisement claimed, why did the Karnataka Government keep quiet all these days? And why has it decided to withdraw the cases now?
Nikhil Ranjan Panigrahy,
