CRPF jawan killed in encounter with naxals

NAGPUR, OCT. 14. A CRPF jawan was killed and another injured in an encounter between naxalites and police in Kasansur in Gadhchiroli district today, police said.

Jitendra Prasad, who was deployed on poll duty, died of bullet injuries.

Two jawans, including one belonging to the CRPF, were injured yesterday, while on poll duty in the district, where naxalites had given a call for boycotting yesterday's Assembly polls.

Block office blown up

A report from Medininagar said People's War naxalites blew up a block office in Palamu district today. The Superintendent of Police, M. L. Meena, said around 100 PW militants raided the Lesliganj block office, 15 km from the district headquarters here, around 1 a.m. The militants left a note owning responsibility for the act, Mr. Meena said, adding that half the structure and important files were destroyed in the blast.
