Buddhadeb not against foreign investment: Juster
By Our Special Correspondent
KOLKATA,
OCT. 14.
The West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, is open to the idea of foreign direct investment in the State as part of the overall process of globalisation, the United States Under Secretary of Commerce, Kenneth Juster, said here today. He would be taking this message back to his country, he added.
Mr. Juster was talking to newspersons after a meeting with Mr. Bhattacharjee. He said the talks were positive, but the U.S. entrepreneurs wanting to invest in the State would have to first visit the region and assess for themselves the ground realities.
He said there was ample scope for foreign investment in the State. Apart from the agricultural and manufacturing sectors there were plenty of opportunities for investment in the information technology and bio-technology sectors.
