More explosives found in Bhavnagar

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD, OCT. 23. Even after the police claimed to have completed the search, more explosives, some of them live, were found in the scrapyard of the India Power Factory at the Vartej industrial estate in Bhavnagar in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat today.

Two persons were killed and three injured in an explosion in the scrapyard on Wednesday which led to the police search. But after the police claimed on Thursday that no more explosives were found in the scrapyard, 36 more shells were detected yesterday and another 23 today. In addition, 24 shells were found from nearby Shihor town.

The police said manufacturing marks on the explosives had disappeared, and it was difficult to decipher how and from where the explosives came to Bhavnagar. The police arrested two persons, employees of the factory, in connection with Wednesday's explosion.
