Nothing wrong

Sir, — I find nothing wrong in rewarding the STF team considering the ordeal its members underwent — separation from family, risk to their lives, etc. It was voluntary participation othat makes their contribution that much more valuable. As for the charges of rights violation, we are talking here of a person who was not known to behave like a normal human being.

Sudha Ravi,
Chennai

* * *

Sir, — Those who raise irrelevant and distracting questions such as why could Veerappan not be captured alive and "was it a fake encounter" need to be ignored if not condemned.

How could the STF have taken chances? The personnel on the spot are the best judges in such situations.

V. Natarajan,
Chennai
