Air Marshal Tyagi to be next IAF chief

NEW DELHI,
OCT. 31.
The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command, S. P. Tyagi, was today named the next Chief of the Air Staff (COAS) by the Government. Air Marshal Tyagi will take charge on December 31 this year when the present COAS, Air Chief Marshal S. Krishnaswami, retires.
Commissioned in the Air Force on December 31, 1963, as a pilot in the fighter stream, Air Marshal Tyagi has worked in a number of command, staff and instructional appointments in a career spanning 41 years.
Besides being a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Air Marshal Tyagi has attended a variety of courses in India and abroad.
He was awarded the Param Vishist Seva Medal in 2003 and the Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 1994, and is one of the Honorary ADCs of the Supreme Commander.
