Two girls

drowned

Two girls - Lavanya (9), and Priyanka (5) -- got drowned in a tank at Kothaguda in Madhapur police station area on Tuesday. The two girls were admitted to the local school by their respective parents today. They went to the Tank after school hours and slipped into the water while playing. Both the girls drowned by the time school authorities reached the spot.

Chains snatched

Two motorcycle-borne snatchers struck twice within an hour relieving two women of their gold chains at Nallakunta on Tuesday. P.G. Sudarshani, 32, was waiting outside Omega school at Ramnagar Gundu after handing over lunch box to her daughter when two youngsters snatched away her chain. The same duo again targeted Kalavathi 55, and her daughter Vedavani 29 at Ramalayam at New Nallakunta.

Boy succumbs

A 16-year-old boy, T. Ramu, who suffered shock while retrieving a kite that got struck in power cables on October 20, succumbed to his burns while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Monday.

SI's jeep stolen

The jeep of Ameerpet Excise and Prohibition Station Inspector, N. Anantha Reddy, was stolen near the latter's house on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday at Boudhanagar in Warasiguda. The Inspector parked his vehicle (no. AP 10 M 369) at his house on Sunday night.

Youth booked

A cheating case was booked against a young man, K. Cyril, who was accused of rejecting his erstwhile lover, as the latter could not pay the Rs. 2.5 lakh dowry demanded by him. A resident of TRT Quarters in Seetaphalmandi, P. Shobharani, lodged a complaint with the Chikkadpally police stating she and her neighbour Cyril had fallen in love two years ago.
