GUWAHATI,

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will gherao Parliament during the winter session to press its demand for repeal of the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal) Act, 1983.
Announcing this here on Wednesday, the AGP president, Brindaban Goswami, told reporters that the party would also press for its demand of compilation of a National Register of Citizens containing the names of all those living in Assam prior to March 25, 1971, and their descendants.
Mr. Goswami described the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh's statement on the Act as "unwarranted" in view of the fact that the Centre had agreed to review the implementation of the Assam Accord with the All Assam Students' Union (AASU).
