Sangh will not intervene in BJP's disciplinary matters, says RSS

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 29. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today made it clear that it would not intervene or interfere in the disciplinary matters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) .

At a press conference here, the RSS spokesperson, Ram Madhav, was asked whether the RSS had intervened on behalf of the BJP leader, Uma Bharti, and facilitated the revocation of her suspension. Mr. Madhav said, "In disciplinary matters related to the BJP, the RSS will not intervene." On Ms. Bharti, he said, "The BJP took the right decision at the right time."

There was no pressure at all from the Sangh.

While Ms. Bharti's return to the party has been announced, other issues have been kept pending. It is not clear if the post of general secretary will be restored and what work will be allotted to her.

The party president, L.K. Advani, has returned here from his tour of the tsunami-affected States but there is no word on when Ms. Bharti will meet him or make a public statement as promised by her in Ayodhya .
