CHENNAI, DEC. 29. The Member of Parliament, Nirmala Deshpande, conveyed her condolences to those who have lost their kin in the tsunami, and has appealed to the public to volunteer for rescue and relief work. A committee has been formed for those who want to channelise their contributions for the victims through a Gandhian institution. Members of the All India Federation of Gandhian Institutions and the All India Harijan Sevak Sangh have commenced relief operations in the affected districts. Monetary assistance in the form of cheques/DDs drawn in favour of the Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Sangh, T. N. Branch and materials such as clothes, blankets, medicines and utensils can be sent to the Sangh's office at 58, Venkatanarayana Road, T. Nagar, Chennai - 600 017.
