Saarang will be a cultural treat

CHENNAI,
JAN. 18.
Saarang, the annual cultural festival organised by IIT, Madras, will feature a classical music concert by Aman and Ayan Ali Bangash, the sons of sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, concerts by singer Kay Kay and the French Celtic rock brand Matmatah, rock shows by the Indian band Orange Street, and the city's own Moksha, a jazz concert by guitarist Prasanna, Grammy-nominated Jeff Coffin, Kai Eckhardt and Derico Watson, and a choreo-night to raise funds for the tsunami victims.
The theme for this year's Saarang, which starts on January 21, is "Colour." "The budget for last year's Saarang was Rs. 50 lakhs. This year it will be more," Mr. Shravan said. The institute plans to donate Rs. 5 lakhs from the Saarang funds to the victims of the tsunami. "
