NEW DELHI: Michel Hidalgo and Peter Obermaier are among some of the prominent coaches who have applied for the post of coach of the Indian football team. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has received over 30 applications for the post after it had requested the world body, FIFA, to recommend a new coach for the Indian team. Hidalgo of France was head trainer of the French soccer team during 1978 and 1982 World Cups and also coached France when it won the 1984 European Cup. Andre Gusset from Switzerland, Jose Mario Olguin, former Argentine World Cup player, Acacio Alfredo Casimiro from Portugal, Jason Withe from England, Pedrag Jurrig from Bosnia and Brian Kerr, former chief coach of Ireland, were the others who have also applied for the job. In the meanwhile, the AIFF has decided to release incumbent Syed Nayeemuddin from the post of chief coach. This was a direct fallout of India's 3-0 drubbing by Yemen in the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Asian Cup qualifier in the capital on March 1. . Sports Reporter
