Samarkhand catches the eye

Mumbai: Samarkhand caught the eye when the horses were exercised here on Monday morning. (April 17).

Outer sand:

600m: Mercedes (Pradeep) 37. Moved freely. Cosmic Flower (N. Rawal), Crystal Gazing (Aadesh) 40. They finished level.

800m: Misty Stream (Aadesh) 54, 600/41. Pushed. Mr. Majestic (Merchant), Collateral (Neeraj) 51, 600/38. They were pushed and finished level. Generalissimo (C. Rajendra) 54.5, 600/41.5. Handy.

1,000m: Joy And Peace (rb) 1-11, 600/42. Easy. Samarkhand (T. Mahesh) 1-4, 600/37. Maintains winning form.

1,200m: Fiery Fortune (Neeraj), Crespo (N. Rawal) 1-24, 600/42. Former bears watching. The Complete Man (Mansoor) 1-26, 600/42.5. Moved freely.

Gate practice — Outer sand:

1,000m: Beloved (Baandal) 1-3, 600/39. Took a good jump and moved fluently. Red Dawn (R. Pandey), Dancing Diva (Merchant) and Flo Nightingale (rb) 1-5, 600/39.5. The first two were level and finished eight lengths ahead of the last named. Leonora (Ruzaan), Snow Tiger (Mansoor) 1-5.5, 600/38. They moved level freely.

Mock race — Race track (April 15):

1,000m: Quick Flash (app), Thunderella (Dasrath), Peaches And Cream (Deepesh) and Beloved (Baandal) 1-6, 600/39. Quick Flash who was racing third near 600m came from outside and beat Thunderella (who was leading) by 1-1/2 lengths. Beloved was slowly off and finished far behind.
