Sabhay made to sweat

NEW DELHI: Sabhay Virmani defeated Divyajyoti Singh 4-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 14-12 in the second round of the cadet boys section in the 17th all-India Surjit Kaur memorial table tennis tournament at the NDMC Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

Martin shines

Martin Ravina scored six goals as Cavalry Green beat President's Body Guard (PBG) nine goals to six and a half in a pool `B' match of the Samaira Cup polo tournament at the Army Equestrian Centres here on Tuesday. Lt. Col. Tarun Sirohi scored the other three goals for the winner.

Maj. Ravi Rathore (4) and Himmat Singh Bedla found the target for PBG that started with a goal and a half on handicap advantage.

In pool `A', ICICI Bank beat Royal Kashmir 7-5 thanks to the goals by Basheer Ali (5), Uday Kalaan and Kamran Ahmad. Angad Kalaan (4) and Jai Shergill were the marksmen for Royal Kashmir.

In pool `C', Jindal Steel and Power proved too good for Horse and Wagun as it cruised to an 8-0 triumph. In pool `D', Remount and Veterinary Corps/Army Service Corps (RVC/ASC) beat Artillery/Emerging 8-5. Maj. Navjit Sandhu (3), Col. Tarsem Singh (2), Lt. Col. N. S. Khera (2) and Lt. Col. S. S. Kashyap scored for the winner. Harry Paul, Amit Sangwan and Maj. Raj Sangram Singh scored for the loser that started with a two-goal handicap advantage.

Samarth to lead

Samarth Singh will lead the Delhi under-15 team in the Polly Umrigar Trophy cricket tournament.
