India was comprehensively thrashed by nine wickets as Australia set up an exciting finale at Sydney in what has been acknowledged as one of the finest Test series in contemporary cricket. Cricket has seen many greats who have derived pleasure from feasting on the best of the bowlers; Ricky Ponting belongs to that rare breed. Ponting, with two double centuries in this series, swept Anil Kumble for the winning hit, a deserving honour as the half-full MCG exploded.
