Focus on institutions: MICA

MUDRA INSTITUTE of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) was set up with the objective of developing professional communication skills. The institute also aims to conduct research in communication as applied to the needs of the communications industry,.thereby facilitating creation and sharing of new knowledge in this fast growing and increasingly important field.

As part of its agenda, MICA collaborates with other institutions, both Indian and foreign, to jointly work on expansion of the knowledge base in the field of communication and its related areas. MICA provides education and training through the various programmes aimed at developing professional advertising and allied communication skills, professional development programmes and workshops for practising professionals, participative forums for exchange of new ideas, creation of awareness and evaluation of new information and techniques, seminal research in the fields of audio, video, written and oral communication, research in the areas of social communication and rural advertising and generation of new ideas and techniques in advertising and its related fields like public relations and direct marketing.

What sets apart MICA from other institutes is its approach and scope of coverage. The approach is almost entirely logical with little or nothing to do with the all-important aspect of persuasion — universally accepted as the soul and guts of all effective advertising. MICA ensures that its students imbibe the importance of this art and master the techniques of converting great ideas into memorable and forceful communication.

MICA ensures that its students are given a very high level of exposure to modern business techniques and processes. This aspect is an integral part of all curricula and systems at the institute.
