Singapore: Destination for Education

Full tuition waiver

1. Why did you prefer Singapore for studying abroad?

No special reason, didn’t want to work after bachelors, one year masters with MIT stamp and no bond attracted me.

2. What difference do you see while studying in Singapore?

Better infrastructure, not so good professors (local professors), more thorough course modules.

3. What is it that you like in Singapore?

No daily hassles in life. Productivity (if motivated) can be high.

4. What are the placement opportunities in Singapore for Indian students taking up higher education? Which companies come for Campus interviews in each college or university?

Campus recruitment is not there. Not many choices in work. Good for people who want to shift into management.

5. Do you plan to settle in Singapore?

No.

6. Does an education in Singapore provide you a global outlook? If so, in what manner?

Yes, it is a good exposure. One realizes Indians are not the smartest in everything.

7. Can you give details of on campus facilities in your institution?

Didn’t stay within campus. Cannot comment.

8. How did you finance your education? How do you compare financing in Singapore, as opposed to India?

Was on full tuition fee waiver and stipend. Cannot compare this at all with India.

9. What is your personal experience of study in Singapore? Do you have anything to say about the city-State's cultural mix?

Good experince. Culturally it's introverted. But good exposure to the East.

10. Will you recommend a study in Singapore in general for juniors back home in India?

Yes, if they don’t come here with a very high bond (6 years is too much).

11. What is the off-campus life in Singapore?

Monotonic, yet its fast and hassle –free.

12. Is there any thing else that you would like to add about education in Singapore?

It's good education but there isn't enough opportunity after the education. Plus the bond makes it tougher for people to explore the same elsewhere. Overall, it’s a small gamble but one can take it.
