Wide choice

1. Why did you prefer Singapore for studying abroad?

a. My brother had already been studying in Singapore for a couple of years and I had first hand knowledge on how his experiences were.

b. Singapore is a very safe place to live in and the facilities/opportunities are excellent.

2. What is it that you like in Singapore?

a. Safe place

b. Easy to go back to India

c. Good facilities and opportunities

3. What are the placement opportunities in Singapore for Indian students taking up higher education? Which companies come for Campus interviews in each college or university?

a. One can pursue masters in the local universities. Lots of faculties and streams to choose from.

b. Firms ranging from government to consulting to banking recruit heavily in the local universities.

4. Do you plan to stay and settle in Singapore?

a. In the short term – yes. In the longer term I would like to go back to India.

5. Does an education in Singapore provide you a global outlook? If so, in what manner?

a. Diverse class and workforce

b. Various cultures and races

6. Can you give details of on campus facilities in your institution?

a. NTU – this has the best campus in Singapore.

b. Big, green campus with excellent facilities

c. E.g. wireless Lan, Lan connections in the rooms, sports centres, lecture and tutorial rooms

7. How did you finance your education? How do you compare financing in Singapore, as opposed to India?

a. Scholarship

8. What is your personal experience of study in Singapore? Do you have anything to say about the city-State's cultural mix?

a. I really enjoyed my student life in Singapore – both studying and having a large sports involvement

b. Singapore encourages people of every culture – there is a very large percentage of Indians, both expats and locals.

9. Will you recommend a study in Singapore in general for juniors back home in India?

a. Yes I would since it broadens your outlook and provides you with plenty of opportunities

10. What is the off-campus life in Singapore?

a. Typically graduating students group together and rent apartments. It is pretty easy to find housing

b. In my case, my family has also shifted to Singapore, so I live with my parents and brother.

11. Is there any thing else that you would like to add about education in Singapore?

a. I encourage people to take it up, if they would like to try something different, at the same time remain near home and make use of great facilities and opportunities
