'Mitr' flag flies high
AFTER QUITE a warm response at home and in America, director Revathy has it coming big in Europe too. Her film `Mitr' was shown recently at the National Film Theatre, London.
The screening of the 97-minute film was part of ImagineAsia, British Film Institute's eight-month long celebration of the cinema culture of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, including British-Asian work, reaching major cities throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Incidentally, the movie forms part of the sub-series, `Tongues on Fire-Asian Women's Festival'. `Mitr' shares the screen with other movies (in this sub-series) such as the Nargis Dutt grosser, `Mother India'. Noticeably, `Mitr' is the only representation from the vast repertoire of South Indian cinema.
