Musician to be felicitated

COME DECEMBER, Chennai basks in the glory of traditional music. Though it is Carnatic music concerts that dominate, yet there is also a smattering of Hindustani music here and there.

The most sought after Hindustani recital of the season will be by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty on December 20 at 6.30 p.m. at the CLT Auditorium within the IIT campus.

This programme is jointly arranged by the Bengal Association, South Madras Cultural Association, Dakshini and Manabendra Smaraney in order to felicitate Ajoy Chakrabarty on his 50th birthday.

Ajoy is not new to Chennai. He has been performing here periodically. His concerts have always been well attended and his mesmerising music has left the audience yearning for more.

The interesting part of this recital will be his daughter Kaushiki, who is a well-accomplished singer and who has won several awards in Bengal.
