Bhagavata Mela at Govindapuram

SRI PANDURANGA Bhajanasramam, at Govindapuram, also known as Dakshina Pandaripuram, near Kumbakonam, will celebrate Bhagavata Mela for three days, from May 30 to June 1. The rituals followed will be exactly like those performed at Sri Panduranga Temple, at Pandaripuram, in Maharashtra. Nearly 50 priests from Pandaripuram will conduct the daily puja on all the three days.

The idols of Lord Panduranga and His Consort Raghumayi were installed at Dakshina Pandaripuram by Krishna Premi Swamigal. The Panduranga Vittal bhakti movement, which is at once simple and powerful, is growing from strength to strength at Govindapuam, mainly due to the direction of Vittal Das Jayakrishna Dikshitar, Harikatha exponent.

His rendition of abhangs and Ramdas and Purandaradas kritis before his discourse, have helped him carve a niche for himself.

The Bhagavata Mela is yet another initiative of his.
