Botched by poor handling -- Ganapathi Vanthachu

HAS THE INGREDIENTS FOR A BOX-OFFICE SUCCESS: Ganapathi Vanthachu

Ganapathi Vanthachu

Genre: Children's Film.
Director: P.C.Guna
Cast: Udhay, Rajesh, Shanmugasundaram, Pandu, Charlie and Madizha.
Storyline: The love of children for a young man who comes to their house.
Bottomline: Taking on too many things has distracted the director and it shows.

Prime Movie Makers' "Ganapathi Vanthachu" has all the ingredients for making it a box office success but the director has lost all the good work put in by the actors and also the technicians mainly due to inept handling of the story.

Ganapathi, an orphan comes to a house where there are several children. He is treated as their eldest son.

All the children, except Pandu and the villain, love him. A plot is hatched and Gnapathi is thrown out of the house. Udhay as Ganapathi has done a good job, showing the right emotions at the right time. It is a cakewalk for the seasoned artistes, Shanmugasundaram and Pandu. Charlie, with his potential for both sentiment and humour, has not been fully utilised. Madisha is yet to learn the ropes of acting. Mona, Gundu Shankar, Sanjana, Ranchana and Mani give good accounts of themselves.

Prasath Ganesh's music is good but his re-recording is rather loud, perhaps because most of the instruments he has used are not known for their soft music.

Director P.C.Guna, in charge of story, screenplay, dialogue and photography, has taken on more than he can chew. He manages to pass muster in the story department.

The way the bad guy goes through a change of heart lacks credibility. Also some scenes must be edited to make it slick and interesting.

Basically meant for children, `Ganapathi Vandhachu' has love duets, which slow down the flow.

The Ganapthi song where nearly 32 names of Ganesha figures is especially good. Better handling would have made Media Jayeshkumar's production a worthy project.
