No Telugu movie at IFFI
The Indian Panorama section of the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held at Goa next month, will have only two Hindi films – Dharm by Bhavna Talwar and Gafla by Sameer Hanchate. These
films are part of the 21 that have been short listed in the feature films section for the Indian Panorama.
Fifteen non-feature films have also been recommended by a jury. The Malayalam film Ore Kadhal, directed by Shyamaprasad, will open the feature film section, and Bagher Bacha, the Bengali film directed by Bishnu Dev Halder, will open the non-feature section. The jury for feature section was headed by filmmaker K.S. Sethumadhavan while Arun Khopkar headed the non-feature section. Of the films selected in the feature section, five are from Malayalam, four Marathi, three each in Kannada and Bengali, two each in Hindi and Tamil. Dharm was a contender to represent India at the Oscars before Eklavya was chosen.
