Gandhinagar Gossip

COMPILED BY VEERESH

Director smitten

Young director Yogaraj Bhat heaps praises on Anant Nag. Bhat has been bowled over by the dedication of Anant Nag who tries to put 200 per cent contribution to the role he plays. Anant plays the role of a hunter in Bhat’s new film “Gaali Pata” which is under progress. “The way he puts in serious efforts to make an impact should be an inspiration to many youngsters. I realised the level of concentration and his commitment to the hunter’s role only when I started to do the editing.”

Actor’s aid

In a unique gesture of providing a helping hand to the needy and poor, Duniya Vijay has now decided to donate an acre of land in Chintamani for a trust which looks after the needs of the poor and needy people in the society. “As an actor I have a responsibility to show compassion towards people who struggle and suffer in their life. I had announced earlier that I would earmark a part of my earnings to social activities and charity. This is only the beginning towards it. I have donated an acre of land to a trust to be headed by my journalist friend Ganesh Kasargod. And the trust will be taking up some good work for the old and weak people. I also want to take up helping poor people to pursue education,” says the busy actor.

Recently, Vijay was attacked by director S. Narayan, blaming the actor for indiscipline and arrogance. But Vijay answers coolly to these allegations and says that he has no issue with S. Narayan who wrote a eulogising article on him only a few days ago in a film weekly.

Scaling new heights

Actress Hemashri is one reluctant actress who got a break in the television serials by chance.

However, she did not anticipate big things in the industry, though her cute face did appeal to many directors. She was much in demand in the television serials when she signed her first major film “Varsha” in which she played the role of one of the sisters of the Vishnuvardhan. Since the release of “Varsha”, Hemashri has been balancing her career in films and teleserials.

Then Hemashri did make a big impact in “Sirivantha” with Vishnuvardhan playing the lead role.

Hemashri got her lucky breaks courtesy director S. Narayan. “But for his continuous support I would not have made it to the top,” says Hemashri, who is presently doing leading roles in two Kannada films. One of them is “Zindagi” which is produced by A.T. Lokesh who made “Duniya” earlier.

Puneet makes it again

The success of Puneet Raj Kumar’s new film “Milana” has proved again that the actor enjoys a steady backing from the family audience and youngsters. The songs of the film have now become a big hit with songs like “Ninnindhale Ninnindhale’ and “Male Ninthu Hodha Mele’ becoming chartbusters.

Director Prakash had delivered hits like “Kushi” and “Rishi” earlier and was known for his sensitive handling of soft love stories.

He feels happy that the artistic values in Milana have been much appreciated by all segments of the film audience.

“In the beginning, speculations were that it would run only in major centres. But as the film is now progressing in its fifth week it is evident that the film has succeeded universally in all the theatres released,” says Prakash.

Puneet Raj Kumar likes “Milana” which has a nice different feel.

I like the song “Ninnindhale Ninnindhale” ,” says Puneet, who plays a Radio Jockey in the film.

He has a special praise for the film’s director Prakash.
