SANGEETHA DEVI DUNDOO
He loved playing the bad guy!
Amitabh Bachchan has been getting bouquets aplenty for his performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s The Last Lear. The actor was in London to attend the screening at the London Film Festival. He is also slated to work with Johnny Depp in Mira Nair’s Shantaram. Talking to the press about this film produced by Warner Brothers, he stated that Hollywood never approached him earlier. Bachchan was also forthright on his views about the debacle called Aag. He agreed that the remake of Sholay should, perhaps, never have been attempted. Nevertheless, he went on to say that he enjoyed playing the villain after being the good guy all these years on screen.
On a mission
Subhash Ghai is on a roll. Soon after shooting portions of his film Yuvraaj in Austria, he completed shooting his other film, Black and White. Ghai talks about terrorism in Black and White. The protagonist is a terrorist who is on a mission. His mission, which lasts 15 days, changes his life forever. Watch Anil Kapoor as an Urdu professor in this film along with Shefali Shah and other newcomers.
Sagarika goes to Sydney
Chak de India has become an anthem of sorts and the Chak de girls, who held their own amidst Shah Rukh Khan on screen, are the last ones to complain. Sagarika Ghatke, who donned the role of Preeti Sabarwal, has been invited along with director Shimit Amin to Australia where the film will be screened at the Sydney Festival. Sagarika, who has become a much sought-after actress now, is being wooed by big banners for ads and films.
Too many cooks…
…spoil the broth? We’ll have to wait for the verdict on that one. Producer Sanjay Gupta’s Dus Kahaniyan has 10 short stories and six directors working on the film. The different stories in the film, which is scheduled to be released on November 23, have been directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Hansal Mehta, Jasmeet Dhodi, Meghna Gulzar, Rohit Roy and Sanjay Gupta. Ram Gopal Varma previously tried having six stories in one film with Darna Mana Hai and then followed it up with Darna Zaroori Hai without much success.
