We are all stars
The small town of Karnal in Haryana came alive with the presence of veteran actor Anil Kapoor and versatile comedian Asrani, at the launch of DD Cruise commercial complex by Dhingra group of companies. Also present was Naresh Kumar Dhingra, MD of the company. This time, Anil Kapoor was seen in the new avatar of a doting father, all geared to promote his daughter’s debut film “Saawariya”.
The proud father is excited about his daughter’s first film. He said, “I am happy that my daughter’s movie is coming.” He added, “Such movies are made in a gap of 10 to 15 years. “Saawariya” is a powerful movie. It is very beautifully done!” Remembering his debut “Woh Saat Din”, he said, “Wherever I am today in my career, I have reached following the trail left behind by my co-stars. ” About his movies he said, “I cherish films like “Taal”, “Nayak”, “Mr. India”, “Eeshwar” and “Beta”.
Referring to the launch of the complex he said, “This project is going to offer a world class facility to the people of the NCR.” Asrani, who added jest to the environment said, “There is a lack of depth in comedy these days. We should try to add more flavour.” After the debacle of Ramgopal Varma’s “Aag”, a remake of “Sholay”, Asrani said, “No, ‘Sholay’ can never be made again with the same intensity and grace and if someone even tries, it will not have the same impact. If would be a failure, as we have already seen.”
He further added, “What we lack today is the dare, which we need to make Bollywood meaningful. Movies with a cultural and moral essence need to be made more often.”
Throwing light upon his past movies and present works he said, “Everything is in the hand of the audience. They decide whether a work is good or bad.” Citing examples he said, “The way Amitabh Bachchan has been accepted by the audience after such a long gap shows that it is the audience who decide. They appreciate good work.” Being an ardent admirer of Kishore Kumar, he said, “He is my favourite comedian of the silver screen.”
