Three cheers

Even before Pyramid Samira could make an official announcement about the big casting coup, the information had spread like wildfire in the Kannada film industry. All the three sons of Raj Kumar had signed a new film to be produced by the Samira company which is speculated to make a deep impact on the film distribution and exhibition sectors in Karnataka. In fact, the late actor had desired to see all his three sons in a single film. This new film titled “OMM” is being directed by Ravi Srivatsa who is promising an amazing fare to the film fans. And the film will be launched on Raj Kumar’s birthday in April 2008. Raghavendra Raj Kumar who was off camera for a while will be making a comeback to the silver screen with this new film. “We hope to make a film that would have appealed to my father, well wishers and fans,” says Shivaraj Kumar. For his younger brother Puneet, the most exciting factor is to work with his elder brother Shivanna, a master in dances and fights.

Incidentally, the young director Ravi Srivatsa who is shooting “Maadesha” with Shivaraj Kumar, says he will start the new film only after completing this one.

Giving Kannada a shot

Delhi-based model-cum-actress Shradhdha Arya is the heroine of Puneet Raj Kumar’s next film “Mayura” launched on December 14. The film has another heroine Sandhya, who made a fantastic debut in the Tamil film “Kaadal”. Shradhdha played Amithabh’s daughter in Ram Gopal Verma’s “Nishabdh”, but since then has focused on South Indian films. “To work with Puneet Raj Kumar in my first Kannada film is like a big dream come true,” says Shradhdha Arya.

New hat

Actor-Producer-Film Designer Vijayalakshmi Singh’s first directorial venture “Ee Bandhana” starring Vishnuvardhan and Jayaprada is released today all over the State. Though the pre-release reports and the reactions from many film industry representatives have been highly encouraging, the one time heroine of Kannada films is curious to know the reactions of the audience. The film is based on a Hollywood hit released some fifty years ago. The original Hollywood flick has inspired many films that have been made in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Vijayalakshmi Singh feels Mano Murthy’s music will be the main attraction.

In the pipeline

Another new Darshan starrer started shooting on December 14. The film is produced by the well-known film distributor Jayanna and his friends who are venturing into the film production for the first time. And Saahuraj Shinde who had directed “Snehaanaa Preethinaa” is the director of this film. Janardhana Maharshi has written the screenplay and dialogues for this film. After a long gap Darshan is playing the role of a police officer born to a rich father.
