Patch work on the beach

S.R. ASHOK KUMAR

Director Agathiyan is busy, canning shots for a song sequence for his ‘Nenjathai Killadhae.

New route to love: Nenjathai Killadhae

The car races on the East Cost Road, Chennai, to turn left after the VGP Golden Beach. Down the road there are different sizes of plots near the seashore. The sea shimmers in deep blue in the over head light of noon sun. The fans and the artists fee l the warmth of the direct sun. Director Agathiyan directs his crew to take position. His cameraman D.Shankar is a special object of his attention. The two are discussing the shot. Agathiyan wants a long shot zoomed in. But Shankar prefers a close-in. In the end, not surprisingly, the director wins.

The shot to be taken is a short clip for a song. Hero Vikranth dressed in a brown jacket and heroine Bharati in a white trouser-T shirt ensemble are learning their lines as the cameraman fixes the lights in the way the director wants them. Soon Vikranth and Bharati are seen chatting with the director’s assistants. Later the director also joins them.

In progress was the shooting of ‘Nenjathai Killadhae,’ produced by Blue Waters Movie Makers. After speaking to the lead pair director Agathiyan takes his position behind the camera and says ‘Start’. After the shot the whole unit shifts to the place nearer the seashore.

Director Agathiyan, whose ‘Kadhal Kottai’ won him the best director award says ‘Nenjathai ….’ will also be different. “The base of the story is love but I’m taking a completely new route, different from all my previous films. The story is about lovers and their feelings. Both Vikranth and Bharati have done a good job as the lead pair and there is also Vikramaditya in another main role.”

The unit had been to Kochi, Thekkadi and Kodaikanal for shooting. The music is scored by Premji Amaran and Harsha does the editing.

In competent hands

The unit now decides to shoot on the opposite side of the seashore where one sees a variety of trees and flowers. The lead pair has changed their attire. Director Agathiyan says he is shooting the patch work of two songs, shot at a different place.

Actor Vikranth says he’s happy to act in a film directed by Agathiyan. “I have seen his earlier films like ‘Kadhal Kottai’ and ‘Vidukadhai.’ But this film is completely different from his earlier ones. He has dealt with love in a novel way. I am in competent hands”. Heroine Bharati is optimistic about her role in the film and expects it to take her to a higher level.

The cast includes Manivannan, Saranya, ‘Thalai Vasal’ Vijay, Pragathi, ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi and Dharsha. The story, screenplay dialogue and direction are by Agathiyan.
