In store for film buffs

IN THE OFFING It's harvest time for film folks and as always it will be raining releases.

The New Year will usher in more than half a dozen films. Vikram (`Bheema'), Satyaraj (`Thangam'), Cheran (`Pirivom Sandhipom'), Madhavan (`Vazhthugal'), Silambarasan (`Kaalai'), Bharath (`Pazhani'), Vadivelu (`Indiralogathil Na.Azhagappan') and Ashok (`Pidichirukku') are the heroes whose films will be released in the course of the week.

Vikram's `Bheema' is a film on a dada and his men. The title is the code word of the hero Vikram who takes on the bad guys with a vengeance. Lingusamy is the director. The cast includes Trisha, Prakash Raj, Raghuvaran and Ashish Vidyarti.

Entertainment galore

`Thangam' is a film with Satyaraj and Megha Nair in the lead. After a gap of some years Coundamani (that's how he spells his name now) acts with Satyaraj and both of them are sure to make the audience laugh to their hearts content. Others in the cast are Jayashree, Shanmugarajan, Mahadevan, Ilavarasu, `Delhi' Kumar and Satyapriya.

According to the director G.Kicha, the film was shot in 45 days in and around Pollachi. Thangam is the name of the hero. There are no remix songs. Out of the five songs three are melody numbers tuned by Srikanth Deva. Satyaraj appears as MGR in a song bit and it will be a highlight. D.Shankar does the camera work while the dialogue has been written by Anbumani.

A laugh riot

Vadivelu acts in three different roles in `Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan.'

This film is out and out a laugh riot with Vadivelu doing the roles of Indiran, Yaman and Azhagappan. "The film has all the ingredients to make it to the box office," says producer Manicam Narayanan. Actor Shriya has done a dance in the film which has Yamini Sharma, Nasser, Sumitra, Manobala, Thyagu and Raj Kapoor. The film is directed by Thambi Ramaiah.

Thought-provoking theme

`Vazhthugal' has Madhavan, and Bhavna. A story of sentiment and family bonding, it is directed by Seeman. The cast includes Venkat Prabhu, Ilavarasu, Krishnamurthy, `Koothup- pattarai' Muthusamy, Trotsky Marudhu, Panrutti MLA Velmurugan and Mallika Sukumaran, mother of actor Prithviraj. The film has the music of Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Star-studded performance

Cheran and Sneha are the hero and heroine of `Pirivom Sandhipom,' directed by Karu.Pazhaniappan. "The story starts three months before the marriage of the lead pair and ends six months after it. Nearly 32 known faces such as Jayaram, Mouli, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Sangeetha, T.K.Kala, Rajalakshmi, Mahadevan, Balasingh, Devadarshini and Jayalakshmi are in the film. Except one song all others are montage songs. Sneha has dubbed her dialogue in her own voice for this film," says the director.

The second venture

Director Tarun Gopi's second venture `Kaalai' has Silambarasan and Vedika in the lead. There are three persons with the same name - while one is the hero, the other two are villains. The confusion forms the basis of the plot. . Nila has danced for a song in the film.

Story of siblings

Bharath's `Pazhani' also joins the Pongal race. The story is about a brother who thinks his sister is like his mother.

The mother's role is enacted by Kushboo. The problem the hero faces is told with various twists and turns. The film is directed by Perarasu.

Different climax

Hero Ashok who did `Muruga' comes out with his next venture `Pidichiruku' with Visaka as his heroine. Direction is by Kanagu. The story is about a young man who works as a lorry agent. The films starts with a bang and ends in a different way. Ashok says he is sure of its success.
