SANGEETHA DEVI DUNDOO

The Emperor’s collections

Trade pundits didn’t expect Jodhaa Akbar to be a runaway hit. Ashutosh Gowarikar, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai have proved to be a formidable trio. The film has broken previous box office records and made Rs. 120 crore worldwide in the first month of its release, of which over 90 crore comes from domestic collections. The film was released in 25 countries and apart from being dubbed in Telugu and Tamil in India, was also dubbed in Dutch and Arabic.

Cowboy Vs. McDosa

We aren’t joking. Watch out for Quick Gun Murugan to be directed by Shashanka Ghosh who gave us Waisa Bhi Hota Hai–II. Quick Gun Murugan, a spoof on the Western genre, will feature outlandish songs, action sequences and melodrama. Rajendra Prasad as a cowboy is pitched against restaurant owner Naseer who wants to start a McDosa chain using beef. The film’s leading lady is Rambha as the blonde girl Mango Dolly.

Aamir’s new look

Those who’ve seen Surya in the Tamil and Telugu versions of Ghajini can look forward to seeing Aamir Khan with a similar hairdo in the Hindi version.

Aamir has shaved his head and made his hairstylist create a scar that runs through the length of his scalp with the help of a razor. He recently arrived for the premiere of Race sporting his new hairdo.

Ghajini will release in October around the same time when Salman Khan’s Yuvraaj and Yash Raj’s animation film Roadside Romeo hit the theatres.
