Full of twists and turns

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

Work is winding up on the much-awaited ‘Nepali.’

DIFFERENT GETUP: Nepali

The huge mansion dotted with greenery off East Coast Road was buzzing with activity. Naturally, because shooting was in progress for Green I Theatres-O.S.T.Saravanan’s ‘Nepali.’ Director V.Z.Durai (‘Mugavari’ fame) was with the lead pair —Bharath and Meera Jasmine — on the terrace, transformed by the art director Selvakumar.

For the particular shot he had installed a big mirror in front of which the couple danced for a song.

After the shot, the director told the cameraman Mathi to light the exterior of the house near a big trunk of the tree.

“We are on the last leg of shooting. This is patch work for the shooting we did in Ooty,” explained Durai. “The song ‘Kanavile’ will be a sure hit with the audience. The highlight of the film is the screenplay which is full of twists and turns with a correct proportion of action,” he added.

What about the title? “Bharath is the ‘Nepali,’ Karthik, IT professional and a jail bird. He has revealed new dimensions in acting and is bound to go places after the release of the film,” said Durai, who has also written the story and the screenplay .

IT professional

Bharath picks up the thread. “The screenplay, I should say, has done the magic. I am an IT professional, who goes to Ooty during weekends to see my beloved — Meera Jasmine. On one such occasion I land in her house to find that she is alone. We start the song ‘Kanavile.’ That is the scene.

“The director must be appreciated for the screenplay he has woven. It is a neat knot. He has also worked hard on the getup of artists to produce great results. We are doing the digital image for the entire film.”

Meera Jasmine is happy to work with the unit. “I hope the film is a success at the box office,” she said.

Bharath’s three getups have aroused the curiosity of cinema buffs. “The contribution of five persons has been of great value to this film. They are the director, hero, editor, cameraman and the music director,” said Bharath. “In fact we have shot one full scene in a still camera and used the shots. For the role of Kartik, I added eight kilos and for Nepali I was asked to reduce which I did it. This has caused the delay. But I think that this summer is the right time for its release.”

The cast includes Meera Krishnan, Sangeetha, Mayilsamy and Mumbai Govind Ramdev. Music is by Srikanth Deva and editing by Madan Ganadeva. The film is produced by OST Saravanan. Pattukottai Prabhakar has written the dialogue.
