Guruji.com introduces search service in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu
New Delhi, March 10. (PTI): Buoyed by the growing vernacular Internet users in the country, web search engine, Guruji.com on Friday launched its search facility in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu besides the existing one in English.
"The growth of Internet in India would be fuelled by the growth of vernacular content so we have launched our search services in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu to cater to the needs of a large number of Internet users, specially in the tier II cities and smaller areas," Guruji.com Founder and COO Gaurav Mishra told reporters.
Backed by Sequoia Capital, the company is expecting to achieve a break even point in next 2-3 years and looking at a revenue of up to $3 million through advertisers, he said.
The company plans to launch a search in 10 major Indian languages and next month Malayalam and Tamil would also be made a part of the kitty.
The engine uses crawl technology, which discovers content on the in the desired language. The user can also type a keyword in Roman English and the virtual keyboard of the software converts it into the vernacular language to get the search started.
