Bangalore (PTI): Ruling out post-poll alliance with Congress and BJP, the Janata Dal (Secular) vied with the two parties in promising freebies, including farm loan waiver, and said it would press for reservation for Kannadigas in booming IT companies if elected in this month's assembly polls.

Releasing the manifesto, party leader and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on Monday ruled out post-poll alliance with Congress and BJP with whom his party had formed shortlived coalition governments.

"We have already suffered enough by supporting the Congress government led by N Dharam Singh and also sharing power with BJP. We will not repeat it again," he said.

The JD(S) manifesto said it would agitate for demanding reservation for Kannadigas in IT and BT companies.

The manifesto also promises to waive loans taken by small and big farmers from all cooperative banks, regional rural banks as well as nationalised banks.

It also said it would scrap the Common Entrance Test, besides providing stoves and cooking gas free to below poverty line families.

The JD(S) also played the language card by promising to launch an 'unceasing agitation' to get classical status for Kannada.

The Congress and BJP too promised sops for voters. While the Congress promised waiver of loans to farmers and Rs two kg rice for poor, BJP promised free power to farmers besides rice at Rs 2 per kg.
