PMK demands statehood for Puducherry
Puducherry (PTI): PMK Parliamentary Party leader M Ramadoss made out a strong case on Saturday for granting statehood to Puducherry so that decisions taken by the Union Territory cabinet could be implemented without loss of time.
Addressing reporters, he said Chief Minister N Rangasamy could also take a delegation of MPs, MLAs of all political parties to present a report in this regard to the Centre.
He rejected as `untenable` the demand of the Karaikal Struggle Group (KSG) that Karaikal should be made a separate Union Territory .
If Karaikal became a Union Territory, there would be no legislature and its development would suffer a lot. Karaikal should continue to be part of Puducherry, he added.
