    Jallikattu held under tight security

Alanganallur (TN) (PTI): Over one lakh people, including foreign tourists, on Thursday witnessed Tamil Nadu's traditional sport of taming the bulls 'Jallikattu', held under tight security and supervision of district officials.

Officials said about 400 bull tamers and 500 bulls participated in the game, organised in connection with state's harvest festival 'Pongal'.

Barricades were erected to prevent spectators from jumping in the fighting area and participants were given uniforms and identity cards.

Five participants managed to tame bulls, who odged and cleared the ground but no major incidents were reported during the event, they said.

District Collector S S Jawahar said that the game was conducted as per the conditions laid down by the Supreme Court two days ago.
