TN Govt seeks Centre's support to Hogenakkal

Chennai (PTI): The Tamil Nadu assembly on Thursday passed a resolution seeking full support and cooperation from the Centre for the Japanese funded Rs 1,334 Hogenakkal integrated water scheme.

Moving the resolution, Local Administration Minister M K Stalin requested the Centre to "prevail upon the Karnataka government not to oppose the project."

The official resolution in this regard was moved in the state assembly after certain groups from Karnataka, including the state unit of the BJP, objected to the project and staged protests at Hogenakkal, located close to Karnataka borders.
