Rains expected in Mumbai in 24 hours: Met Dept

Mumbai (PTI): Light rains were experienced across the city over the last 24 hours but Meteorology Department officials have predicted heavy rains and thundershowers.

The Colaba station of the Meteorological Department recorded 124.9 mm of rainfall over the last 24 hours while the Santacruz station recorded 243.9 mm.

The light rains came as a respite for city residents after heavy rains on Saturday derailed transport systems and waterlogged streets.

Transport systems in the city were largely unaffected by the rains today with road, rail and air traffic moving smoothly.

Weather bureau officials have predicted heavy rains and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.
