Sachin is Kohinoor of sporting world: Badal

Chandigarh (PTI): Congratulating Sachin Tendulkar for becoming the highest Test run-getter in the world, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday described the batsman as the Kohinoor (gem) of not only cricket but the entire sporting world.

In a congratulatory message to Sachin, Badal said that he felt double happy that the 35-year-old star batsman had chosen the land of Punjab for his historic moment by surpassing the record of former West Indies captain Brian Lara.

Ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal in his message described Sachin as the brightest jewel in India's crown. He hoped that Sachin's world record beating effort will result in India's victory at Mohali.
