White to lead Australia A
Melbourne (PTI): Victorian allrounder Cameron White will lead a 17-member Australian A side in the upcoming series against Pakistan A on their home soil starting later this month.
Western Australia's Adam Voges will be White's deputy in the series which comprises two four-day matches to be played at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville, before moving to Allan Border Field in Brisbane for the remaining three one-day matches and a Twenty20 game.
The squad announced by Cricket Australia today also features injured Shaun Tait, Shaun Marsh and Brett Geeves but the trio's participation in the series is subject to their match fitness.
CA NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said the squad was selected considering the players last year's performance in the domestic season.
"The NSP has, with view to the future of Australian cricket, selected a very young squad to play both the four-day and one-day games. The selection recognises the performances of these young talented players in the domestic season last year whilst concentrating on those players we have identified as having the ability to play a significant role in the development of Australian cricket in the future," Hilditch said in a CA statement.
