Corinthians to keep Ronaldo until 2010

RIO DE JANEIRO (Xinhua): The head coach of the Corinthians soccer team, Mano Menezes, declared on Saturday that his star forward, Ronaldo, will play for the team until 2010.

The news comes after the team's victory of the Brazilian Cup and their participation in the continental tournament of the Libertadores Cup."I am absolutely sure that he will stay. He feels great here," said Menezes.

Ronaldo's current contract with the club from Sao Paulo expires in December of 2009. The player has considered retirement after one last effort at the World Cup. For this reason, staying active and playing with Corinthians in their quest to win the 2010 Libertadores Cup will allow the player to keep in shape and be ready to play in the up-coming World Cup in South Africa.

Upon winning the Brazilian Cup, Ronaldo declared that, "It is likely that I will stay."
