World Cinema Foundation to be launched in Cannes Film Festival
Paris, April 7 (Xinhua): American film maker Martin Scorsese, accompanied by several other film makers, will during the 60th edition of Cannes Film Festival launch the World Cinema Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of major world cinema works.
According to a statement published on Wednesday by festival organisers, a "lesson in exceptional cinema" will be given by Scorsese who will talk about his work as a director and his passion for cinema.
He will equally award the golden camera prize to the director of the best film screened at the festival during the closing ceremony on May 27, according to the statement.
Winner of the prize of Golden Palm in 1976 for his film "Taxi driver" and the jury president in 1998, Scorsese bagged the Oscar for the best director as well as for the best film for his movie " The Departed" during this year's Oscar awards.
