    Tare Zameen Par gets tax exemption in Haryana

    Chandigarh (PTI): Haryana Government on Wednesday exempted Aamir Khan starrer Hindi film Tare Zameen Par from payment of entertainment tax for 12 weeks in the state, an official announcement said here on Wednesday.

    Excise and Taxation Minister Birender Singh said here that the film deals with a sensitive social problem about children, which require urgent attention of the society.

    The film has portrayed the issue very beautifully and tries to educate the parents and teachers how to take care of their children so that they can grow into useful members of society with self-esteem, he added in a statement.

    Singh said that exempting the film from payment of entertainment tax would help both students and teachers to understand the psychology of children.

    The State government will have to bear a loss of Rs. 15 lakh due to exemption of entertain tax on this movie, he added.
