First Indian film festival in Kuwait

Dubai (PTI): The first Indian film festival in Kuwait will be opened on wednesday with the screening of Bollywood hit "Chak De".

Indian ambassador to Kuwait, M Ganapathy told PTI on Tuesday that the Indian embassy is organising an Indian Film Festival from April 2-5, in collaboration with the Kuwait National Cinema Company.

The festival will be inaugurated by Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's Minister of Information.

Ganapathy said, though political and economic ties between the two countries are growing at a rapid pace, the cultural exchanges need to be given an impetus.

"This is the first of many initiatives taken by the Indian embassy to increase people-to-people contacts between the countries," he said.

Other Hindi films, including "Veer Zaara" and "Black", with Arabic sub-titles, will also be screened during the four-day event.
