PRAGUE (Xinhua): A film by renowned U.S. director Milos Forman had its world premieres here on Saturday.

In the film named "A Walk Worthwhile", the 75-year-old Czech-born director transferred to the screen his theater version of a jazz opera, which was originally intended only for DVD release, but later developed into a feature movie. "It's a kind of moral fairy tale about money's corruptive influence. And it came out in the 60's when no one had any money. Now it's more topical," Forman said.

His jazz opera version premiered at Prague's National Theatre in the spring of 2007 and 71 performances have been staged since then.

The opera premiered in Prague in 1965. Forman then directed its TV version in 1966.

The film will be shown in Czech cinemas starting from July 9.
